Palestinian Olive Oil Soap
Nablus soap is the only 100% olive oil soap still produced in the traditional way. Made from three ingredients --- virgin olive oil, water, and lye --- it is cooked slowly on low heat, before being hand cut, stacked, and dried for up to 8 months.
The Two Keys: This imprint is made in the historic Touqan family workshop in Nablus. Their original factory, as well as their family company, is more than 800 years old (!) and a famous institution of Palestine, located in the center of the old city of Nablus. The Two Keys imprint are known for the generous size of their bars which often exceed 5 oz.
The Camel: The Camel / al-Jamal, made in the Shaka'a family-owned workshop in Nablus, is the most iconic imprint of Nablus soap --- often people refer to 'al-Jamal soap' to mean Nablus soap in the same way that people talk of Jacuzzi for hot tubs or Xerox for copy machines. The imprint took its mascot from the camel trains used to carry in qilw soda ash and olive oil to Nablus from neighboring countrysides.
- Size: Each bar is roughly 5 oz and 2" x 3" x 3"
