Birthday Pennant Flag Card

Appliqué card with pennant flags and a warm birthday greeting. These cut out flags are made from the scraps from other paper products, so colors and patterns of flags vary.

About the paper: Nepali artisans have been making paper from lokta bark in their villages for thousands of years and still use it in their daily lives. 

The paper is renowned for its exceptional durability and wonderful texture. Lokta (a sub-species of the daphne plant) grows in the Himalayan forests of north central Nepal between 4,000-8,000 ft.  Lokta harvesters collect the bark of the daphne according to the “Lokta Management Plan,” a 6 to 8 year rotation cycle implemented to preserve the fragile forest ecology. Harvesters sell the bark to families to use for making paper.
