Thanksgiving Address
Greetings to the Natural World, or the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations or Iroquois) Thanksgiving address.
These words are spoken before and after all ceremonial and governmental gatherings of the Haudenosaunee. The belief is that the world must not be taken for granted, and that communicating thankfulness aligns the minds and hearts of the people with Nature. This forms a guiding principle of culture.
