Silk and Needle Felted Scarf

  • $58.00

A scarf you have to see to believe. Wool tufts are secured into a fine gauge silk by poking with a needle hundreds of times, a process called needle felting.

Alcoholism is commonplace in Kyrgyzstan, as is domestic violence. Our artisans in the north eastern region of Kyrgyzstan have mastered wool art. They use these skills to create scarves, nativities, and potholders.

Since they are paid a fair wage for their work, they bring home some much needed income, relieving some of the financial stress in the household, reducing the occurrence of abuse.
