La Chamba Oval Platters

From meal preparation, to cooking, roasting, grilling, and then serving, these black clay oval platters with handles make for simple yet attractive presentation of your meals. This serving platter is made of Colombian clay and can be used in the oven or microwave, and then brought directly to the dinner table using the convenient handles. Available in various sizes, the Chamba oval platter is must-have to keep on hand for holiday parties, special events, and homemade meals.

Handcrafted by generations of families in the village of La Chamba, Colombia, these vessels are made of local micaceous clay that is mined from the banks of the Magdalena River. Each piece is stone-smoothed by hand and fired on-site to achieve the signature black finish that puts Chamba in a class of its own. The mica in the clay allows it to withstand a great deal of heat. All-natural and unglazed, it contains no toxins. Chamba can be used in the oven and microwave - even on the stovetop and grill! It cleans up easily and should not be put in the dishwasher. 

Note: if using on a non-gas stove, we recommend using a copper or aluminum heat diffuser.
